Beijing Tong Ren Tang to Boost Brand Awareness in Brunei

Chinese medicine brand, Beijing Tong Ren Tang (BTRT), is looking to boost its brand awareness in Brunei, imparting more knowledge about traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and services to the Bruneians.

Besides the Chinese-Bruneian, BTRT was also targeting the non- Chinese population in Brunei, a Bruneian daily reported on Thursday.

The Brunei Times quoted general manager of the BTRT's Brunei branch Wang Yuling as saying that many people did not understand TCM, and BTRT wanted to inform the Bruneian public what BTRT actually did.

Headquartered in Beijing, capital of China, the Chinese pharmaceutical company was founded over 300 years ago.

Currently, it is engaged in manufacture, retail sales and medical serives, operating TCM stores worldwide in over 40 countries and regions.

According to the daily, the company's only branch in Brunei has been in operation since August 2009.

As the Chinese population in Brunei was quite low, Wang said that the company wanted to encourage more people, especially the non-Chinese, to try their medical services.

These services include consultations, prescription of traditional herbal medicines and acupuncture, added Wang.

She said that although the clinic did receive Malay customers, the majority of its customer base at the moment was of Chinese descent.
