The country's manufacturing quality watchdog has vowed to take seriously each valuable clue provided by the public in its pursuit of nationwide counterfeiters, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Yan Fengmin, head of the law enforcement department with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said his officials discovered 87 to 90 percent of counterfeit cases in China, while the public and the media uncovered the rest.
Yan encouraged the public and the media to continue to offer help in discovering more counterfeit operations.
"We promise to seriously investigate each valuable clue provided by the public and media," he said.
The administration said that, during a special three-month campaign to the end of this year aimed at protecting intellectual property rights, it dealt with 2,550 counterfeit cases worth nearly 100 million yuan ($15 million).
The campaign was launched in response to a request from the State Council.
