Yesterday afternoon, the International Exhibition Centre of China Textile City observed the grand opening of the Award Ceremony 1 of 6th World Choir Games. Twelve Choirs from 7 countries, namely China, Estonia, South Africa, Sweden, America, Indonesia, won the championship. The whole ceremony lasted for five hours.
In the first stage of the WCG, 147 medals were awarded and 73 of them were got by Chinese choirs, including 16 gold medals, 40 silver and 17 bronze. In the open tournament for the Cat.1 Children's Voice, 12 chiors, including Shaoxing Yuecheng District Children's Choir, Hong Kong Yuen Long Children's Choir, got the gold medal. In the tournament for the Cat.1 Children's Voice, Estonian TV Young Children's Choir took the first price, with their national anthem played in the International Exhibition Centre. All the participants and audiences rose to their feet and cheered for the choirs.
Shaoxing University Choir defended the title in the tournament for the women's Voice, which is the only champion in Chinese choirs so far.
