On the afternoon of October 28, Zhao Hongzhu, secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People s Congress, met with members of the two delegations attending the Third Exchange of Retired Chinese and U.S. High-ranking Military Officers held in Hangzhou.
Zhao Hongzhu extended his warm welcome to all the honored guests and expressed his wish for the success of the activity. He also introduced to the guests the economic and social development in Zhejiang.
Li Qianyuan, head of the Chinese delegation, and Owens, head of the U.S. delegation, expressed their appreciation for the warm reception of Zhejiang on behalf of both delegations as well as their hope that the friendly exchange will facilitate more exchanges between both parties and enhance the mutual trust and cooperation between the two nations.
The exchange of retired Chinese and U.S. high-ranking officers is an important nongovernmental activity and the first two were held in Sanya, Hainan, and Hawaii, U.S., respectively.
