The 16th Shaoxing (China) Rice Wine Festival opened in Shaoxing on November 7.
November 7 is the Beginning of Winter of the Chinese lunar calendar. It also marks the beginning of the winter brewing of Shaoxing rice wine. The opening ceremony of the 16th Shaoxing Rice Wine Festival featured the traditional brewing ceremony which prays for favorable wind and rain this winter for brewing good wine. 15 representatives from wine enterprises declared the start of brewing Shaoxing rice wine in 2010.
Starting from the afternoon of November 7, the Rice Wine Square witnesses three days carnival including wine ceremony, art festival, mass wine tasting, etc. The first arts and crafts exhibition, the economic conference of Yue merchants returning from overseas will also be part of the wine festival.
