The Hangzhou Metropolitan Economic Circle Development Plan drawn up by the municipal governments of Hangzhou, Huzhou, Jiaxing and Shaoxing has been approved by the provincial government and officially released.
The plan sets Hangzhou city proper as the nucleus and center of the economic circle, with the cities proper of Huzhou, Jiaxing and Shaoxing as sub-centers, the six neighboring counties and cities of Deqing, Anji, Haining, Tongxiang, Shaoxing and Zhuji as the closest circles, and Changxing, Jiashan, Pinghu, Haiyan, Shangyu, Shengzhou and Xinchang as joint circles.
Mr. Wu Jiuqi, head of the Planning Office of Hangzhou Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, told the reporters that a high-level meeting will be held to discuss the implementation of the plan. The circle should have taken shape by 2015, and be well equipped by 2020.
