On April 22, leading the provincial government delegation to visit Vietnam, governor Jiang Ju-feng called on Vietnamese vice-premier and foreign minister Pham Gia Khiem in Hanoi.
Pham Gia Khiem extends a warmly welcome to the visit of Jiang Ju-feng and his party and requests that Jiang Ju-feng convey his greetings to Liu Qi-bao, secretary-general of our province. He speaks highly of Sichuan's great achievements in economic development and post-quake restoration and reconstruction and hopes to further strengthen friendly cooperations between Vietnam and Sichuan in all fields.
Pham Gia Khiem puts forward three proposals. First, to actively encourage the investment of Sichuan enterprises in Vietnam; second, to actively promote bilateral trade, and thirdly, to actively cooperate in education, science and technology, training and other fields and to send more Vietnamese students to study in Sichuan.
Governor Jiang Ju-feng conveys the cordial greetings of secretary-general Liu Qi-bao to vice-premier Pham Gia Khiem and deeply appreciates the care and support given by the Vietnamese government and people after 5.12 Earthquake. Jiang Ju-feng says that the friendship between our two peoples goes back to ancient times and we are good brothers and intimate partners.
Sichuan attaches great importance to developing friendly cooperation with Vietnam. There are basis, conditions and great potential for the two sides' carrying out exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Jiang Ju-feng showes approval of the three proposals brought forward by Pham Gia Khiem and expresses willingness to strengthen communication with the Vietnamese side and to pragmatically promote bilateral cooperation and exchanges through foreign affairs, foreign trades and other channels.
Jiang Ju-feng hopes the two sides could open direct flights as soon as possible so as to meet the needs of growing trade and personnel exchanges.
Jiang Ju-feng says that the Shanghai World Expo is opening and the 11th WCIETF will be held in October in Chengdu. To enhance mutual understanding and promote bilateral substantive exchanges and cooperation, Jiang Ju-feng warmly invites Vietnamese leaders to visit Sichuan Pavilion in the World Expo and invites Pham Gia Khiem to attend the WCIETF with his delegation.
On April 22, Jiang Ju-feng also met with Nguy?n V?n Cao, chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province in Hue and Le Hoang Quan, chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in Ho Chi Minh.
