How could Xindu and Denmark join hands in spite of their distance? To the consul-general of Denmark in Shanghai Ms. He Lilan, the answer is the progress that has been made in the Northern European Knowledge Town program.
In 2009, with a total investment fund over 4 billion RMB, the China-Denmark International Business School was settled in Xindu district. According to its function, the school is divided into three parts, the China-Denmark scientific education and culture area, Northern European sustainable ecological development zone, and the Northern European Industry Garden, technological business area.
The Northern European Knowledge Town is located in the first area. Covering an area of 135 acres, the China-Denmark International Business School is jointly constructed by Copenhagen Business School and the Danish investment company SID, with a total investment fund over 500 million RMB. The construction of the school will be initiated in September this year, affiliated to Copenhagen Business School.
It is reported that the Northern European sustainable ecological development zone will bring in the European eco-project exhibited in Shanghai Expo, and build residential community, commercial and art center in Nordic style using high technology and eco-materials. Northern European Industry Garden will introduce European corporate headquarters, R&D centers and manufacturing companies, in order to further development in food, drink, new energy and environmental-friendly products, etc.

It was reported that on the very day of Xindu Day, Xindu District and Pufa Industrial Investment Co. Ltd., signed investment agreement. According to this agreement, the Perfect Industrial Investment limited company will make an investment of 12 billion RMB to build Qingyuan Modern Industrial City whose major industries - the manufacturing of mechanical and electric products as well as outfits are supplemented by such production and services as electrical appliance and instrument, system integration, auto parts and new energy.
In addition, Japnese Asian Brain joint-stock company signed a Collaboration Agreement of a total investment of $ 1.6 billion. With an investment amounting to 30 million Euros, Flugger Group and ISS Group of Denmark have also signed contracts and will settle down in Northern Europe City of Knowledge in Xindu area.
The effect brought by the opening up can be seen instantly. For Xindu such cooperation is just in its initial stage, since new wonderful drama of cooperation will be on show. What is the theme of this drama? How to ensure climax occurs one after another and never ends?
At the end of last year, Chengdu set its historical position and long-term goal as a world-class modern garden city and designated the first year of this journey as Year of Opening Up . After opening wider to the outside world by more exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries and careful contemplation, Xindu suddenly got enlightened: why not seize the opportunity provided by Shanghai World Expo which draws world-wide attention to show the new images of Xindu and further opening-up?
