Output value of LED industry might exceed 50 billions in next 2 years

A frame agreement on equipping and renovating 50 thousands LED streetlamps on the main avenues in Zhongshan with total investment of 200 million yuan, was signed yesterday by the Science and Technology Department of Guangdong Province and the Zhongshan Municipal People's Government yesterday. The total road length covered reached 650 kilometers, and the project will be finished in 3 years. Zhongshan strives to lead the LED industry and becomes a demonstration city of green lighting with the output value of LED industry exceeding 500 billion yuan by 2012.

This project will save 20.3 million kw h and 18.36 million yuan of electricity expense every year. It will also bring 20 billion yuan added value for the city. Meanwhile, some platforms have been built, such as data of patents service platform of global lighting industry and public innovation service platform of LED product, etc. which might accelerate the semiconductor lighting industry and the optimum development, and further, become a new growth point and promote local industry.
