A big part of any major sporting event is the tireless work of a dedicated volunteer group. The Asian Games is no exception. A team of little-recognized heroes helping make the event a success in Guangzhou.
"The first round of tests focused on basic knowledge of the Asian Games, said Asian Games volunteer Wang Nan. The second round focused on English capabilities, especially oral English. After we passed the tests we qualified to be volunteers.
"We received all kinds of training, including the orientation of job responsibilities and every aspect of Asian Games, said Liu Mangbai, another Asian Games volunteer.
Volunteers say they are happy to be helping the Asian Games run as smoothly as possible. "I'm very proud to be a Guangzhou Asian Games volunteer. It has been my dream, said Wang Nan.
"The Asian Games are every four years, this time it comes to Guangzhou. We are hosts and are able to serve the games. I feel extremely proud, said Zhao Xiaoyu, another games volunteer.
