Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, paid courtesy calls on Singapore leaders on Wednesday (Jan 12) during a four-day official visit to the country.

Chui held talks with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Foreign Minister George Yeo, respectively.

Speaking on his visit to the provident fund and housing development units of the Singapore government, Chui said on Wednesday that the experience of Singapore in formulating central provident fund and housing policies was worth learning, but that Macao will not copy all the policies from Singapore.

There is a need for Macao to set up its own system of social security, public housing and retirement benefits to ensure a quality life for the people, he said.

Chui arrived in Singapore for a four-day official visit on Monday. He visited the Central Provident Fund Board and the Housing and Development Board as well as the casino resorts of Singapore on Tuesday.

Chui is expected to visit the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore on Thursday morning before leaving for Macao in the afternoon.
