A total of 2,991 new companies have been registered in Macao last year, increasing by 18.3 percent over 2009, according to figures released on Wednesday by the city' s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
For the whole year of 2010, registered capital value of the new companies rose by 48.8 percent to 507 million patacas (63.37 million USD), with capital from Macao, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland totaling 249 million patacas (31.12 million USD), 124 million patacas (15.5 million USD) and 72 million patacas (nine million USD) respectively, the figures indicated.
In 2010, there were 492 companies in dissolution, up by 4.9 percent over 2009, while the value of registered capital decreased notably by 89.2 percent to 216 million patacas (27 million USD), according to the DSEC..
The figures also indicated that a total of 737 new companies were registered in the fourth quarter of 2010, up by 9.3 percent year-on-year, while number of companies in dissolution totaled 119 in the same period.
