The average income of urban residents in Guangzhou in 2010 rose 11% year-on-year to hit 30,658 RMB, while the average net income of rural residents increased 14.7% to reach 12,688 RMB, according to statistics released by the city's Statistics Office on January 28.
Last year, the Asian Games provided a stimuli strong stimulus to the prosperity of Guangzhou's tourism marketsector, which recorded total revenue of 125.461 billion yuan, up 26.2% year-on-year.
Statistics also show that Guangzhou's GDP in 2010 exceeded the 1-trillion-RMB mark to reach 1.060448 trillion RMB, up 13% year-on-year, and the combined total output value of the city's industrial enterprises above the designated scale surged 17.6% year-on-year to hit 1.472147 trillion RMB.
Last year, fixed-asset investment in the city continued to surge forward. With the stimulatory effect of a number of substantial projects, including the Asian Games Town and venues and the West River Drinking Water Project, fixed-asset investment in the city jumped 22.7% last year to hit 326.357 billion RMB, including investment of 98.366 billion RMB in real estate, up 20.3%.
Retail spending flourished as well. Last year, total retails in Guangzhou increased 24.2% year-on-year to 447.638 billion RMB, and commodity importation and exportation rapidly recovered, soaring 35.3% year-on-year to 103.776 billion USD.
In terms of Guangzhou's continued development in the post-Asian Games era, the Statistics Office envisions accelerated speeding up the development of the city's cultural industries to facilitate the establishment of the city into a world-renowned cultural city, and the expansion of expanding five cultural industries, including press and publication, Web gaming and animation, creative design, radio, TV and film production, and performing arts and entertainment, by taking advantage of the built creative industry parks and modern service projects.
