Guangzhou's Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 3.2 percent in 2010, up from 2009, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. It is 0.8 percent higher than Beijing, 0.1 percent than Shanghai, and 0.3 percent lower than both Tianjin and Shenzhen.
Six kinds of commodities have raised their prices just within one year, garments by 6.6 percent, food by 5.7 percent, housing is up 4 percent, both medical care and personal articles increased by 3.2percent, and tobacco and alcohol went up by 2.8 percent. Education and entrapments articles as well as service also increased 0.3 percent.
Household equipment, articles and services were 0.2 percent lower than last year. Both transportation and communication were 0.1 percent lower.
