A total of 115 language teachers from overseas started teaching at Shenzhen schools Sept. 1, the city education bureau said Thursday.
The teachers were mainly from the United States, Britain and New Zealand, and would teach oral English at 71 primary and middle schools until July next year.
They were recruited through the Center for Teaching and Learning in China program, said director of the bureau's administration office, identified only as Liu.
"All these teachers are required to have a bachelor's degree with more than two years experience in related fields, and those with the world-recognized Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificates are preferred," she said.
