The tallest building in Shenzhen would house the city's first IMAX cinema in a new shopping complex to open in November, the developer of the building announced Thursday.
The Kingkey Financial Tower, developed by the Kingkey Group and to stand at 441.28 meters with 98 floors when completed, would have a KK Mall, an up-market shopping center, Nov. 20.
In addition, an agreement signed Thursday with Starwood Hotels and Resorts allows Starwood to open a St. Regis hotel in the new skyscraper in late 2011.
Situated in Caiwuwei, the business center of Luohu District, the skyscraper will incorporate stores and restaurants, first-class offices, and a five-star hotel. Surpassing the 384-meter Diwang Mansion, the tower will become a new Shenzhen landmark.
The KK Mall will combine luxury-branded stores, restaurants and a BLT supermarket.
The mall will also house the first IMAX cinema in Shenzhen. When the cinema opens Nov. 20, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the seventh Harry Potter saga, will be screened.
So far, more than 90 percent of the commercial space has been leased.
The St. Regis hotel will be located on floors 75 to 98. It will offer panoramic views of Luohu and Futian districts, as well as Hong Kong.
