A former Communist Party of China chief of a local district plunged to his death from a government office building in south China's Guangdong Province Saturday, police said Sunday.
Wu Xuexin, 58, former Party chief of the Wujiang District, Shaoguan City, fell from the seventh floor of the district government's office building at around 5 p.m., a spokesman with the district public security bureau said.
Police had ruled out the possibility of murder and no suicide note had been found, said the spokesman.
It was not known why Wu was in the office building Saturday as he no longer worked there, said the spokesman.
Wu had been staying at home since 2008, an unnamed source told Xinhua.
Wu was secretary of the district committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) from December 2006 to July 2008, according to the district government's official website.
Police are still investigating and no further details are available.
