Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games Athletes Village is All Set

The Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) said on is recent press conference that all is now set for Athletes' Village for the upcoming Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.

As published on its official website on Tuesday, the Athletes' Village will officially open on November 5, wherein about 10, 156 athletes and 4,202 team officials from 45 countries are expected to stay during the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.

On Monday, GAGOC said it had already received advance team delegations from Thailand, Japan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Vietnam, Bahrain, and Republic of Korea.

Incidentally, Athletes' Village Executive Mayor Chen Shaokang had also outlined the location of the Athletes' Village and what can be expected to see.

According to him, the Athletes' Village is located in north central of the Asian Games Town, connecting Media Village and the Technical Officials' Village, in the west and east respectively.

It has a land space area 329,024 square meters with a total floor area of 591,332 square meters, and stands at the core of the Asian Games Town Division.

The Athletes' Village was also said to be consisting of three zones namely, the Public Zone, the Residential Zone and the International Zone.

The Public Zone is where the athletes, team officials, and visitors will enter upon their arrival in the Athletes' Village.

Meanwhile, the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games opening ceremony will be held at Haixinsha Square on the Pearl River south to Zhujiang New Town of Guangzhou, on November 12, 2010.

This upcoming 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou is said to be a part of the worldwide Olympic movement and governed by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

The Asian Games is being dubbed as the second biggest sports event in the world, next to Summer Olympic Games.
