All Guangzhou citizens will enjoy free transport on city buses and metro lines during the 31 working days of the Asian Games and Asian Paralympic Games. Further additional free rides will also be available for 4 groups of people even during the non-free period .
On Oct. 25th, the Communications Commission of Guangzhou Municipality issued the Free Ride Guideline, which highlighted that four special groups of people will have access to complete free ride during both the Asian Games and Asian Paralympic Games.
These four groups are ID card holders; identity and accreditation card holders (including venue volunteers); ticket holders and urban volunteers. Except for taxis, airport express buses, Zhujiang River tourism boats and highway passenger coaches to the suburban areas, public transport services including metro lines, buses, trolleybuses (including BRT) and ferries will be open to them free of charge. Some of coaches from urban areas to Zengcheng and some coaches in Conghua city will also be free for them during the two Games, and such persons should check this with the driver on entering their bus..
\Free ride period for the Asian Games ID card holders will be from 0:00 of Nov. 7th to 24:00 of Nov. 30th (24 days in total), that for Asian Games identity and accreditation card holders will be from 0:00 of Oct. 25th to 24:00 of Nov. 30th (37 days in total). Free ride period will be from 0:00 of the visiting day to 4:00 of the following day for the Asian Games ticket holders including single-day Asian Games admission ticket holders, opening ceremony rehearsal ticket holders, free film ticket holders, free performance ticket holders and free cultural exhibition ticket holders. The period for Asian Games urban volunteers will be same as that for Asian Games identity and accreditation card holders.
Asian Paralympic Games ID card holders will enjoy 16 days of free ride from 0:00 of Dec. 7th to 24:00 of Dec. 22nd. While Asian Paralympic Games identity and accreditation card holders will enjoy 22 days of free ride from 0:00 of Dec. 1st to 24:00 of Dec. 22nd. Ticket holders free ride period will still be from 0:00 of the visiting day to 4:00 of the following day. Asian Paralympic Games urban volunteers will have access to same free period as Asian Paralympic Games identity and accreditation card holders .
