Guangzhou metro is estimated to welcome 5.5 million traveling people on the first day of the coming New Year. To cope with the influx, metro service time (except APM) will be extended one hour on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (assumed from 2 day holiday in the original), according to the metro company.
Over 1 million spare tickets have been made to prepare for the 3-day New Year holiday. Departure intervals will be shortened during the peak time.
And in other interest, the local weather department has forecasted that temperature in the city on the first day of 2011 will be as low as 4 .
