Seven foreign nationals were arrested trying to enter Hong Kong illegally from Kuichong community in Longgang District, Shenzhen on Saturday night, border police said yesterday. They were apprehended while waiting for a boat to take them to Hong Kong. The border police received a tip-off about the group Saturday afternoon. They were the first illegal foreign immigrants to have been arrested this year. In recent years, an increasing number of foreign nationals had been caught trying to enter Hong Kong illegally via Shenzhen. Some of them were said to be attracted by free medication for HIV and AIDS in Hong Kong prisons.
