The Sino-Kuwait Oil Refining Project will start this year, according to the provincial government report in 2011."We will actively support and hope to start this project soon and generate great economic benefit." said Abudulwahab Alsager, Kuwaiti Consul General in Guangzhou at the reception of the 50th anniversary of Kuwait National Day and the 20th anniversary of Liberation Day in Guangzhou on Feb 24. He added the affiliated industry chain of this project will bring great business opportunities to Zhanjiang.

Zhao Yufang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, made her remarks at the reception, saying Guangdong is willing to expand its exchanges with Kuwait in various areas, such as trade, investment, energy, flight, service etc, and promote the cooperation to a new high.
Kuwait is the first Gulf Arab state that established consulate in Guangzhou. Zhao said the Consulate has done a lot of hard work, since it opened in 2008, to promote exchanges and cooperation between Kuwait and Guangdong in area of trade, energy, infrastructure, sports, culture, etc,. According to her, foreign trade volume between Guangdong and Kuwait in 2010 approached 700 million USD, representing a 25% growth over the previous year and taking up 11.2% of China-Kuwait trade volume in the same year.

According to Abudulwahab Alsager in the previous interview with Newsgd.com, in this April or May, a "Kuwaiti Cultural Week" will be held in China to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relation between Kuwait and China. And on April 12, the Consulate General in Guangzhou will hold a press conference to introduce Kuwait's economy and investment.
