Huang (2nd R) and his parents meet the media Tuesday.
A young man met his biological parents in Shenzhen on Tuesday after he was abducted by a woman 16 years ago.
The man, identified as Huang, 22, met his parents and brothers in an emotional reunion, but said he had not decided whether to leave his foster parents to return to his hometown in Lufeng, eastern Guangdong, with them, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
Huang was taken by a woman surnamed Chen in Lufeng in 1998 when he was 6 years old. Chen was sentenced to death for trafficking 16 children in 1999, but police had never found Huang.
Huang was sold to a childless couple surnamed Wu in Puning in Guangdong Province. Although the couple raised him as their own, he was upset by rumors of where he came from. I always had the feeling that I was an abducted child, but I did not remember anything before [the age of] 6. The only picture in my mind was my grandmother carrying me in her arms. I always hid my feelings from my foster parents because I did not want to upset them, Huang said.
He turned to the police for help March 9 after he came to work in Shenzhen. The police compared his DNA to the DNA information in the database and found his biological parents.
We never stopped looking for him for the past 16 years. We sold our home and looked for him in Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan, Huang s mother said.
However, Huang said he had not decided whether to leave his foster parents and return to his biological parents.
I have not told them about this and was afraid they might be upset after hearing the news. I have to think about the future carefully, he said.
