Dongguan's Mayor Mr. Li Yuquan arrived in Taiwan Monday along with an economic and trade delegation of more than 1000 members headed by Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua. The delegation is set to participate in "Taiwan-Guangdong Week", a week-long tour focusing on enhancing cooperation in various fields.

Mr. Li Yuquan's visit received a warm welcome from Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation Chairman Chiang Pin-kung during a banquet on Monday evening after his arrival.
Mr. Chiang told the Mayor that he has a special preference for Dongguan. "Dongguan is home to the most Taiwanese firms in mainland China and also home to the only Taiwanese-operating hospital and Taiwanese Business Building in mainland China."
In response, Mr. Li Ququan said Taiwanese businessmen's investment in Dongguan has been an important contribution to Dongguan's development from an agricultural county to today's renowned manufacturing base in China. "Taiwanese businessmen not only run business in Dongguan, but also hold a special love for the city," he said.

Mr. Li said he believes the week-long visit in Taiwan will be "a successful visit for cooperation, friendship and learning."
The "Taiwan-Guangdong Week," themed "tour of cooperation, tour of homeland love", begins on August 16 and will end on Aug 22. It will feature events concerning economy and trade, tourism, agriculture, merchandise procurement, cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Guangdong Province.
Asides from participating the week, Mr. Li will also visit local commercial associations and Taiwanese firms which have invested in Dongguan.
