6 teenagers from Dongguan challenge themselves by cycling to Beijing from Dongguan.
It takes about 3 hours from Dongguan to the Capital of China Beijing by the air and 30 hours by car. Then how about riding the bicycle? 6 teenagers from Dongguan can tell you the answer as they arrived in Beijing last Monday (August 17).
Accompanied by 5 adults, 6 teenagers from Dongguan aged between 8 and 13 set off from Dongguan on July 24 and finally reached the last destination of their riding activity "3000 kilometers northward" the Beijing Olympic Park on August 17, after 24 days' of riding.
The six teenagers are from four Dongguan families. The youngest is 8 years old while the eldest is 13. As the team leader Da Qin introduced, they set off from Dongguan on July 24 and rode northward all along the No. 107 National Highway. After 24 days' riding through 5 provincial capital cities such as Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Shijiazhuang and finally arrived in Beijing thereby completing the 3000 kilometer long journey. To ensure the safety of the children, the adults led the way for the team and there was an equipped car carrying all kinds of necessities, Da Qin added. The team always rode early in the morning and evening in order to avoid the scorching heat of noon time.
