Nine University Union and Four Suggestion

In the morning of December 10th, directors for educative administration and international cooperation from 9 member universities of Excellent Union gathered together at Tongji University, to discuss and carry out the Cooperation Framework for Excellent Talent Education.
The 9 member universities are Beijing Institute of Technology, Chongqing University, Dalian University of Technology, Southeast University, Harbin Institute of Technology, South China University of science and Technology, Tianjin University, Tongji University, and Northwestern Polytechnic University.
After thorough discussion, participants reached the agreements that the Excellent Union members should initiate cooperative programs and set up regular meeting mechanisms. Finally, all the discussions and agreements were formalized as Jiading Memo.
1. International Summer School
International summer school will be co-sponsored by three universities each year, which target at all Union members and members of Sino-European Education Platform on Engineer. Each round will be three years. Topics will be decided jointly by Union members. Tongji University, Northwestern Polytechnic University and Chongqing University will co-sponsor the first round that start from 2011. The summer school will be held at the campus of the three universities. Participants will stay in each campus for approximately 4-5 days.
2. Co-involvement in International Activity
Tongji University will invite other Union members to send faculty and students to attend 2011 World Student Forum on Environment for Sustainable Development, Sino-European Swimming Competition, Sino-Finnish Train Trip, etc., which are organized by Tongji. Harbin Institute of Technology will invite students of engineer, electronics and material from other Union member universities to participate into the 2011 micro-satellite launch project.
3. Information and Resources Sharing
The Union members should promote sharing of information and resources with each other, such as international courses, visiting students, and famous faculty.
4. Meeting Mechanism
The Union members should establish regular meeting mechanism for directors of International Office. The directors should meet at least once per year to brainstorm new ideas, issues and suggestions.
