2010 Confucius Institute Family Gathering opens at RUC

RUC hosted the 2010 Confucius Institute Family Gathering on the evening of Dec.12th, 2010. International Office Director Tang Zhong chaired the reception.

RUC Vice President Yang Huilin attended the reception and delivered a welcome speech extending his gratitude to all the Chinese and foreign teachers present for their great support in building Confucius Institutes (CIs).

Vice President Yang Huilin also introduced the development of RUC s overseas CIs which were not only serving as an important language and cultural platform, but also became a crucial bridge linking student and teacher exchanges and research cooperation between RUC and its partner universities. In 2011, RUC would continuously promote collaborations with its overseas CIs in teacher selecting and dispatching, textbooks compilation and various exchange activities.

President of the University of Zimbabwe Prof. Levi Nyagura gave his speech on behalf of all the guests. He expressed the appreciation for RUC s hard work for the CIs and would like to continue to support bilateral cooperation between the two universities.

Vice President Yang Huilin also extended his congratulations to the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland on winning the Confucius Institute of the Year 2010 . It was the third time for UCD Confucius Institute to be honored as an outstanding Confucius Institute in its four years' existence since 2006.

More than 50 people from RUC President s Office, International Office, School of Fine Arts, School of Literary Studies, the Institute for the Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture, the RUC Youth League and 13 Confucius Institutes attended the reception.
