First Application of ZTT OPGW in Telecommunication DC Power Transmission Line

After ZTT won the bid of State Grid Corporation of China (2,000km OPGW, thrid batch of item, in 2005), it gained the supply right of OPGW and ADSS for the largest contract section in State Grip Telecommunications Center's Three Gorges (Caijiachong)-Shanghai (Baihe) 500kV DC Line Optical Communication Project. It is the first time to use domestic OPGW in DC power transmission line since our country starts to establish HVDC line.
HVDC technology has huge application potentiality in far-distance power transmission, the interconnections between large power grids and small and medium power grids.Since the first long distance and large capacity HVDC line "Genan Bipolar DC Power Transmission Line" was established in 1990, our country have constructed Tianguang Bipolar DC Power Transmission Line, Three Gorges Jinzhou-Guangdong Huizhou DC Power Transmission Line, Guiguang DC Power Transmission Line, Three Gorges Left Bank-Changzhou DC Power Transmission Line, Lingbao DC Converter Station, etc. Although the equipments and materials are preferred to be made in China, all the OPGW are imported. So Chinese OPGW manufacturers had no supply record in HVDC. With the development of Three Gorges Project and "Strategy of Power Transmission from West to East", construction scale of national DC power transmission project is becoming larger and larger. Related departments of the State Council and National Power Grid Company made a domestical product plan.
This project starts from Three Gorges Right Bank Power Station to eastern Shanghai Baihe 500kV DC Converter Station. It had special meaning and it attracted many OPGW manufacturers to join the bidding. ZTT OPGW depended on the integrated advantages in technology, quality and commerce to win the tenderee's recognition and apply the domestic OPGW to HVDC project first.
The principals of Zhongtian Hitachi said that the company has arranged the key technical, quality and project personnels to organize the production. They start from the basic works in many ways and discuss with the experts with abundant experience on DC power transmission system. They pay attention to the system research and set design. They express that they will try to set a good example of applying domestic OPGW in HVDC power transmission project.
