TARGETS WIRELESS OPERATORS AND BASESTATION VENDORS IN US 3G MARKET

OEM OPPORTUNITY EXPANDS COMBA S INCOME SOURCE

(18 October 2006 California, USA and Hong Kong) Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited ( Comba or the Group , Hong Kong stock code: 2342) launched today the world s first 3G multi-carrier power amplifier ( MCPA ) for Advanced Wireless Service ( AWS ) band. Developed by Comba s R&D center in Santa Clara, California, this new generation MCPA is specifically developed for the United States market with AWS band (1.70GHz/2.1GHz) as its prevalent 3G standard.

Available in 25W and 50W models, Comba s new 3G MCPA for AWS band boasts the highest power density in the world among products of its kind, and is also compatible with HSDPA and 1xEVDO standards. MCPA enables amplification and integration of multiple carrier signals into a single antenna on base stations, hence removing the need for multiple antennas of a basestation, MCPAs boost transmission efficiency and help lower operational and maintenance costs.

AWS is the national 3G standard in the US. With the September license auction by the Federal Communications Commission ( FCC ) closing with a record US$13.7 billion in net bids for 1,087 3G licenses, it is seen that the new amplifier has tremendous potential in the US 3G market in the future.

Mr. Simon Yeung, Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Comba, who oversees the Group s international operations, said, We are proud to be the first vendor to offer an AWS-compliant MCPA for the US market. With most of the AWS licenses awarded, we expect to see 3G operators stepping up construction and upgrading of networks by deploying new base stations and enhancing existing ones. We believe that our MCPA will gain traction with basestation vendors and rapidly penetrate this enormous wireless enhancement market, thereby creating another valuable revenue stream.
