CFMCC Group Begins Hoisting China s Largest Overpass Box Girders

T box girders, of China s largest single span JL32 at the 2nd Ring Road of Wuhan, began being hoisted on August 10, by CFMCC Steel Structure Corporation, the contractor of the project.
Jinqiao Span JL32, of the 2nd Ring Road of Wuhan, is located at the Huangxiao River Culvert Box of Jinqiao Road; the box girders have a total length of 350m and weigh 3,033t. Supported by 4 piers at intervals of 100m, 150m and 100m, the span is made up of continuous steel box girders, boasting the record length and section height (6.2m) among overhead steel box girder overpasses in Chinese cities. On the basis of field prospecting, CFMCC Steel Structure Corporation had hammered out a special plan for installation of steel box girders, and through repeated discussion and revision, produced the construction plan acceptable to the steel structure experts and highly praised by Wuhan Real Estate Group, Wuhan Safety Inspection Center, Wuhan Municipal Design Academy and Guangdong Tianheng Engineering Supervision Co., which created conditions for installation of box girders as scheduled and for constructional quality assurance.
