On behalf of more than 20,000 colleagues and the Board of Directors, Mr. Liang Wengen bade greetings and tributes to all technology staffs and their families on the occasion of SANY Technology Festival. He said the staging of SANY Technology Festival helped to promote and display SANY's achievements in research and development, to enhance awareness and appreciation of all employees for technology, to broaden visions of technology staffs, to improve technology staffs' professionalism, and to discuss, position and develop SANY's R&D strategies. Highly commenting on the significance of SANY Technology Festival, Mr. Liang Wengen also said he wanted to see SANY Technology Festival grow into a technology week or even a technology month to further inspire people for technological innovations.
Completely Concurring to "Technology Work Report"
Mr. Liang Wengen completely concurred to the "Annual Technology Work Report of SANY Group 2008" delivered by Mr. Yi Xiaogang, First Vice President of SANY Group. With solid data, this Report highlighted major technological progress of SANY Group in 2007, powerfully inspiring.
Mr. Liang Wengen recalled that when Premier Wen Jiabao's visited SANY in 2005, he specifically wanted SANY to step forward in patent application and patent protection strategies. In 2007, SANY Group filed applications for 196 Chinese patents, 8 international patents, and 19 in individual foreign countries; and received validation for 123 patents and 5 inventions, all of which translated into better protection for the Company's R&D and innovation endeavors.
According to Mr. Liang Wengen, SANY has achieved handsomely in technological innovation and product development in 2007, as reflected in new offers in its leading product lines of concrete machinery, pile driving machinery, road construction machinery, harbor machinery, hoisting machinery, coal mining machinery, and excavating machinery. They all resulted from collective efforts from SANY's technology staffs.
Following the winning of the 2nd-class Prize of Science and Technology for China's Machinery Industry and the 2nd-class Prize for National Award for Scientific and Technology Progress, SANY SCC4000 crawler crane garnered the 1st-class Prize of Science and Technology for China's Machinery Industry in 2007. Mr. Liang Wengen hoped that technology staffs in the group might save none of their effort bringing back the 1st-class Prize for National Technological Progress in 2008.
Comprehensively Improve R&D Methodology
Mr. Liang Wengen instructed that technology staffs comprehensively improve their R&D methodology, with stresses on testing and examination systems, standardization, and assembly technologies and equipment.
High reliability has been an important feature of SANY products, which is ensured by highly improved testing and examination systems. Without such systems, SANY will be no longer guarantee the high reliability of its products, neither will the Group be able to attain its goal of "building the best enterprise, foster the brightest talents, and make the greatest contribution." Mr. Liang Wengen therefore went out of his way to call technology staffs' attention to testing and examination systems.
Standardization is a major element in corporate brand image. Chaotic standard system is seen to incur potential risks to production cost and product image, and likely to double the workloads during the manufacturing process. SANY Group has no other options to keep improving its standardization if it aims to achieve annual sales revenue of more than 100 billion yuan.
Having visited major multinationals like Cummins and Caterpillar, Mr. Liang Wengen believes that SANY still need to further improve its assembly technologies. He wanted every one of technological directors and engineers to give sufficient consideration on designing of parts and components as well as the refining of assembly equipment in efforts to comprehensively upgrade SANY brand.
Firmly Adhere to Vision of Becoming the Best
Mr. Liang Wengen wanted all SANY technology staffs to firmly adhere to the vision of becoming the best in their business, and consolidate their self-confidence: what foreigners can do are all possible to Chinese people, while what beyond foreigners' capacity may also be accomplished by Chinese people.
China took a prolonged nap in its modern history, and the country's economy falling behind only took place some 100 years ago. He said China's splendid history of technological development has been an admired miracle throughout the world, so all SANY technology staffs should sincerely recognize their own brightness and wisdom, and believe in the fact that the Chinese people are able to do better than any other people in the world, which is an indispensable foundation for the revival of a great nation.
He also said all plants, equipment, steel materials and gears could be procured, but the quality, ideas, and knowledge of technology staffs do not bear price tags. Mr. Liang Wengen wants all SANY technology staffs to bear in mind a belief that they are able to develop the best products in the world, and to fulfill their own career objectives by substantiate those of SANY Group.
According to Mr. Liang Wengen, all SANY technology staffs have been well-educated intellectuals with great aspirations. As members of SANY, a leading player in China's engineering machinery industry, they should firmly capture the "once in a million" opportunity by which the great nation is reviving herself, to do more for the enterprise, and for the country. He wants all SANY technology staffs to take their job position as launch pads for their career development and utmost ideals.
Mr. Liang Wengen warned technology staffs against thoughts of complacency with preliminary achievements, so as to remain true to their own ideals and goals, to create greater value for the society, and to live up to the many years of arduous school education, to their loving families, and to themselves.
Technological progress and contributions by R&D staffs prove to be the leading forces behind SANY's growth and brand recognition. Mr. Liang Wengen called on all technology staffs to lay down their collective efforts for an internationalized SANY Group as well as annual sales of 100 billion yuan.
