On the morning of 19th April, Ned Kirk, a famous American pianist visited our college and gave a solo music recital and master class, accompanied by HK pianist Li Tingqiang. Besides teachers and students from the Musical Department, Vice-President Lai Meiqin attended the lecture. The lecture was held at the Music Hall of the Tin Ka Ping Building.

Dr. Kirk played some piano pieces from famous composers, such as Beethoven s Scottish Waltz , Liszt s Mophisto Waltz No.1 and Debussy s Etudes . During the recital, Dr. Kirk explained some of them to the audience. With his wonderful musical composition and notes, he offered the audience an excellent audio-feast. In the question and answer part, both piano masters tried their best to answer questions about piano playing, which made for a very warm atmosphere. Dr. Kirk said his visit to Huizhou University was his second trip to China for lectures.

At the beginning of the recital, Vice-President Lai Meiqing warmly welcomed these two piano masters. She also expects that our students should learn from them and study hard to achieve their dreams.

Famous American pianist, Ned Kirk is also an Associate Professor of the Music Dept. at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. He is now serving as the director of the Minnesota Beethoven Festival.
