The Austria National Television Station Took an Interview of our Academy

On April 15^th, three journalists from the ORF station -- the Austria National Television Station, arrived at our academy to do an interview aimed at looking at Chinese traditional opera from a professional perspective and comparing it with western opera. The interview will be of great help for the opera lovers in Austria to have an accurate understanding of this traditional Chinese performance form. The filming group first recorded the whole process of Zhang Huoding s (the most famous actress from Cheng sect of Beijing Opera) class and enjoyed the most famous part from the play Huang Shan Lei. Afterwards, the group recorded Zhang Yao s (the director of Performing Department) class and a famous opera part from Jie Zhao Yun. Zhang Yao introduced the characteristics of Chinese Opera performing, and showed them the special aria of Chinese Opera and the featuring acting skills. The journalists were deeply impressed by the performance and greatly admired the two masters. They said that the western opera singers could only stand to sing and perform; yet Chinese opera singers could just sit to do the same thing, which is of great value to western operas.
