There is a grand meeting that surpasses the border of time and space, races and nationalities, and light up the sky of Guangzhou. It is 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games- the biggest intercontinental sports meeting in the world.
Four years has seen the preparation for Asian Games. In hosting Asian Games and Asian Para Games, gymnasium construction is the basis, operation the key, administration and services the core. As a member in Guangzhou, SCUT is ready to fulfill its promise to Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Asian people by a comprehensive preparation in organization, facilities, sports environment and service to contribute to the successful and splendid Asian Games.
Events-oriented, improving the management
SCUT has put much emphasis on the 2010 Asian Games. In early 2010, a SCUT project group of Asian Games was established, with Chairperson of University Affairs Committee WANG Yingjun and President LI Yuanyuan as the group leaders, executive vice president PENG Xinyi and Vice-president PENG Shuolong as vice group leaders, principals of relevant ministries as group members. Cooperating with relevant government departments, the project group starts preparing for Asian Games. The sound organization mechanism ensures the Asian Games to be held in an orderly way.
Serving the Asian Games
In SCUT, it's a common aspiration of the faculty and students to join in, support and serve Asian Games, 4061 Asian Games volunteers, 1707 Asian Para Games volunteers have done a lot of preparation. To greet Asian Games, a professor of seventies has spent 4 years drawing a hundred-meter long picture, and presented it to the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC); the architects in SCUT devoted themselves in designing the 12 stadiums, Asian Games Town, as well as Haixinsha, the place in which the opening ceremony of Asian Games will be held.
In SCUT, Asian Games has become a true carnival.
Perfecting operating system
The SCUT volunteer team is a team with well-defined duties and functions, clear division of work, rapid response, and orderly coordination. To perfect the directing & operating system, SCUT has organized 4 drills, during which, problems are discovered and solved, volunteers have strengthened their ability to deal with emergencies, and coordination of different departments is improved
