2007 Guangzhou Asian Games Media Forum Held Ceremoniously in Our University

The 2007 Guangzhou Asian Games Media Forum was held ceremoniously in our university on December 9th. Mr. Gu Shiyang, vice secretary general of the Organizing Committee of Asian Games Guangzhou chaired the opening ceremony of the forum.

The forum titled Guangzhou Asian Games in Eyes of Press and Media was held by the organizing committee of the 16th Asian Games in purpose of motivating interaction and discussion between academic circle and media industry on propaganda and publicity strategy during the Asian games. 17 celebrities including Mr.

Zhu Yonglei, Deputy Director of Bureau for the Coordination of Affairs of World Exposition Shanghai China 2010, Wang Shufu, Editor General of Nanfang Newspaper Group, Professor Li Liangrong, from College of Journalism of Fudan University etc. were invited to give lectures on the forum to provide their advice and ideas on media coverage during the Asian Games and city image establishment.

Present on the forum also included more than 150 journalists from home and abroad.

On the opening ceremony, Mr. Hu Jun, president of our university delivered a welcoming speech. He said that the forum was of great significance to the news report and publicity during the 16^th Asian Games 2010, and that the forum s holding in Jinan University was a vote of confidence to our university. Mr. Yan Pingquan, Mr. Yang Jian, and Mr. Xu Ruisheng the vice mayor of Guangzhou said in their speeches that they were confident to the success of the forthcoming 16^th Asian Game, and hoped that the media at home and abroad could create an agreeable and friendly atmosphere for the game and could further improve the internationality of Guangzhou.

In the one-day symposium, the celebrities from the industry shared their perception on news and communication during the 16^th Asian Games, while those from the academic circle depicted the constructive interaction from an academic point of view.

The Asian Games is not only the grand occasion to the whole Asia, but a precious occasion to display in all-round way the city image of Guangzhou to the world, and an occasion that spotlight Guangzhou to media of the whole world. Ye Xiaofan, and Li Jinyuan, from Radio Guangzhou proposed their opinions from the relationship between Asian Games and the city image as well as city brand.

Network media was the other hotspot of the forum, Zhu Yonglei, Deputy Director of Bureau for the Coordination of Affairs of World Exposition Shanghai China 2010 and Zhang Yan, deputy director of the sport center of Sohu.com expounded the positioning and characters of the network media in grand occasions.
