President Hu_Jun Visiting Singapore and Indonesia
From June 13 to 17, President Hu Jun led a delegation to Singapore and Indonesia and visited trustees of our university, Mr. Sendi Bingei and Mr. Wang Gengwu. The delegation also visited the National University of Singapore Nanyang Technological University and the University of Sumatera Utara, Indonesia.
During the meeting with the trustees, Prof. Hu Jun expressed his sincere thanks for their contribution to Jinan University. The two trustees also thanked President Hu for his visit and promised their continuing to Jinan university.
During the meeting with the East Asian Institute of Singapore National University, President Hu exchanged views with Professor Zheng Yongnian on research cooperation between two universities, and invited Professor Zheng to Jinan university to give lectures. At the Nanyang Technological University, the leaders of two universities had a fruitful discussion about how to strengthen cooperation between to the two sides as to broaden areas of cooperation.
President Hu Jun also met with Mr. Wei Wei, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore and trustee of Jinan University President Hu Jun gave a brief introduction to Ambassador Wei about the latest development of Jinan University and its link with universities in Singapore.
In Indonesia, president Hu Jun and the President of the University of Sumetera Utara reviewed the cooperation between the two sides. The delegation also met with two Chinese teachers from Jinan University teaching at the Chinese Department of USU.
President of USU expressed his thanks to Jinan University for the support and help in developing Chinese education oat USU and spoke highly of the seven Chinese teachers who have been sent from JNU to USU. He also expressed his wish to expand the cooperation to the field of traditional Chinese medicine.
Accompanied on the tour included leaders from the Office for Turstees, College of Chinese Language and Culture, College of Science and Engineering, South East Asia Research Institute and the International Affairs Office.
