APOS2010 Held at JNU
From June 28 to 30, the Second Asia-Pacific Optical Sensors Conference (APOS2010), co-organized by Jinan University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University was held at Guangzhou. President Hu Jun addressed the opening ceremony and the welcome dinner. Prof. Guan Baiou, Director of Institute of Optical Technology presided over the opening ceremony as the co-chairman.
Held every 18 months, APOS Conference is the most authoritative international conference with the largest scale and the highest academic level in Asia-pacific area in the field of optics. This conference accepted 101 papers. More than 150 representatives from 13 countries and regions attended the conference, with more than 40 from 20 some universities and research institutes in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan and Belgium, etc.
Keynote speakers at the conference included Prof. Kazuo Hotate from Tokyo University, Dr. Alexis Mendez, CEO of MCH Company, U.S., Prof. Tong Limin from Zhejiang University, Deputy Editor-in-chief of the Optics Express.
The conference also set up an award for excellent papers from students to encourage research from them. Representatives also visited the modeling project of optical sensors of the Guangzhou New TV Tower during the meeting.
The next APOS meeting will be held at Sydney University, and the forth conference with be held in Singapore.
