The result of the new round of China Discipline Ranking, which began in 2006, has been announced. Recently, the Ministry of Education announced that 9 disciplines of HIT became first-class disciplines of national key disciplines. These 9 disciplines are Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Instrument Science and Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Power Engineering and Thermophysics, Control Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Civil Engineering, Management Science and Engineering.
These 9 first-class disciplines of national key disciplines include 34 second-class disciplines.
Six other disciplines of HIT are determined to resume their second-class disciplines status. The six disciplines are Optics, Electrical Machinery and Equipment, Physical Electronics, Communication and Information System, Aircraft Design and Environmental Engineering.
At present, 40 second-class disciplines in HIT enjoy the status of national key disciplines.
HIT is among the first in the number of first-class national key disciplines among all the universities in China.
