ICoPE2010&13thICPE is the fourth in the series of International Conferences on Precision Engineering (ICoPE) in Singapore. The first three ICoPE conferences were held in 1995, 2000 and 2003/04 in Singapore, respectively. The International Conference on Precision Engineering (ICPE) has been organised by the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE) since the first conference, held in Tokyo, Japan in 1974. The term "nanotechnology" was first defined by Professor Taniguchi at this conference. The first eleven ICPE conferences were held in Japan; the twelfth was held jointly with the ASPE conference in Portland USA in 2008. ICPE has focused on state-of-the-art production engineering and is always forward-looking towards next-generation technologies. The objective of this joint conference is to provide an excellent platform to update and discuss the latest advances in precision engineering-related fields by researchers and engineers from research laboratories, academia and industry.
ICoPE2010&13thICPE jointly organized by Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology, JSPE, National University of Singapore and Singapore Nanyang Technology University. There are more than 200 experts, scholars and engineers from 20 countries and regions attended the current conference, up to 163 papers have been presented in conference. The conference heared from six keynote presentations by well-knowed scholars that came from University of Bremen, University of Tokyo, Osaka University, National University of Singapore, Setsunan Universty and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The conference covered a wide range of themes and content in the field of precision maching, including Precision machining, Non-traditional machining, machining systems, advanced moulding and forming, machine condition monitoring, MEMS/NEMS, mechatronics, Measurement and test, optical measurement, advanced materials and functional surfaces, bio and medical manufacturing, green and sustainable manufacturing, rapid manufacturing and Machine tool etc.
Prof. Hu Fu-Qiang and Prof. Yang Xiao-Dong from Harbin Institute of Technology attended this conference. They were invited to make an academic presentation in the non-traditional machining topic, and went to carry on beneficial exchanges together with scholars from overseas delegates, to promote understanding lately developed direction.
During the conference, we also visited the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Makino Milling Maching Co., Centre of Asian Studies and Singapore Aero Engine Co.,Ltd., experiencing and understanding the situation and atmosphere of the world's leading research institutions and production enterprises.
In addition, professors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Northeast University, Guangdong University of Technology and some institutes in China attended also this conference.
