The New School Year Opening Ceremony of NENU for students of 2010 was held in the newly-opened gymnasium on September 3.
President Shi Ningzhong addressed the ceremony. He said today deserved to be celebrated because it was the day when NENU's national-wide first-class gymnasium was formally opened after six years' design and construction. It was also the day when new students of two campuses gathered here for the first time to attend the opening ceremony.
He then briefly introduced the history and developmental situation of NENU to the new students. He expressed two wishes to the students: one is to cultivate interest in active learning and scientific research. The other is to stick to an all-around development and improve physical and psychological quality.
In particular, he emphasized that this year was the fourth year for our country's implementation of the policy of free normal education in normal universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education. In the end, President Shi said NENU was the second home for new students right from today and hoped that students would love this home and win honor for it.
Faculty representative, student-at-school representative and freshman representative made speeches respectively on the ceremony.
