The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia has picked up an $8.8 million option to produce fabric for the Navy as part of a contract awarded to Burlington Apparel Fabrics last year.
Burlington, a unit of Greensboro-based International Textile Group, will produce up to 826,800 yards of polyester/wool, tropical and khaki cloth, which will be used for working uniforms in the U.S. Navy, said Scott Miller, spokesman for the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia.
Burlington will produce a minimum of 330,720 yards. The contract had a maximum value of $8.8 million, but Burlington will see at least $3.5 million in work, Miller said.
He added that there are three more options left on the contract, which was awarded to the company in April.
