Our planet is in trouble. 200 years of industrial and agricultural development have put the sensitive ecological systems off balance. The problems are man-made. Most of us realise that we can overcome these problems, even if it's a long way to go. But we can't go on like before.
At Saab we are convinced that responsibility, performance and the pleasure of driving can - and must - co-exist. Despite our limited size we act at the forefront. Acting in the smaller scale shouldn't stop us from thinking big. That's why we introduced Saab BioPower engines, and that's why we now combine it with hybrid technology in the Saab 9-X BioHybrid.
To make our point and to encourage others it is necessary to challenge the conventional. And that's one of the reasons why we join forces with another Scandinavian, design-driven company and launch an ecological clothing collection, based on 100 per cent bio-cotton and Fair Trade.
Reflective Circle is a company dedicated to ecological production, all the way from soil and seed to the finished garment and the distribution chain. The vision and the values embrace sustainability and ethics in a holistic and very practical way. And their clothes are designed to perform just like the Saab cars.
Automotive and clothing are two industries with a particular responsibility. They represent a substantial share of environmental impact. That also means that the potential improvement is huge. There is no reason to wait any further. Even if we cannot define the ultimate and final solutions, we are obliged to take the first steps in the direction we know is right.
