Continuing the active wear theme ("New wool for the active wearer"), the luxurious Red Island active and leisure wear Winter 2008 range, created by renowned fabric maker Charles Parsons, will be available from March this year.
The Red Island garments are made from super-soft, ultra-light Merino and are tailored for the active wearer. All pieces are extremely comfortable and provide moisture control and insulation.
“We are delighted to have Charles Parsons at the helm of the Red Island range,” said AWI Australian product marketing manager, Jennifer Lau.
Charles Parsons was established in Sydney, Australia in 1915 by Charles Leslie Parsons, and has seen over 90 years of fashion and design through its history.
“Through their involvement the range is now better than ever in a number of strong seasonal fashion colours,” Ms Lau said.
14 styles will be available in charcoal, magenta, sage, azure blue, indigo, red, black and dove grey. They will be distributed through Pure Merino stores in international airports across Australia.
The Red Island range is made exclusively from 100 per cent Australian Merino wool fabrics and Australian Merino wool blended with elastene, allowing for extra stretch and recovery, and low crease factor.
Most importantly for the modern active wearer, the Red Island range is easy care, and has high wicking and odour-dispersing properties.
“Merino is the perfect fibre for activewear; it breathes like nothing else and takes you from cold weather to warmer climates in the blink of an eye. It’s the world’s oldest fibre and yet it is more technologically advanced than many man-made fibres,” said Ms Lau.
