As the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue hits magazine stands it seems as though swimsuit season will be top of mind for almost everyone.
To check the pulse of swimsuit attitudes, Lands' End, a leader in swimwear for the entire family, conducted a survey of 500 men and 500 women.
Results found almost all men surveyed (94 percent) stated they prefer more coverage when it comes to their own swimsuit.
"It's not surprising men want more coverage when it comes to their swimsuits," said Michele Casper, Lands' End spokesperson.
"At Lands' End, we have found the key to swimsuit confidence is comfort and coverage. As a result, we are offering our largest men's swim assortment this season.
Men will have plenty of options to choose from, including classic volley trunks and board shorts to cargo swim trunks and a new innovative swim short that that will easily take guys from the beach to the boardwalk."
The Lands' End Swimsuit Survey also revealed some surprising (and not so surprising) findings:
Women Agree! - Women want men to cover up when it comes to swimsuits. In fact, nine out of ten women (95 percent) prefer men have more coverage in a swimsuit rather than less.
Double Swimsuit Standards - While women want men to cover up, men want women to choose less coverage. The survey found 70 percent of men want less swimsuit coverage for women.
Lightning, Money and Models - More men believe they have a greater chance of getting struck by lightning (47 percent) versus winning a million dollars (37 percent) or dating a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model (16 percent).
