Vietnam : Fashion Fair 2007 displays biggest ever shoe!

Phu Yen craft village located at the central coastal province has produced the largest shoe ever, which is being showcased for the first time at this Christmas season’s Fashion Fair 2007.
The statistics of the shoe goes as 2.75m in length, 1.2m in width and has a height of 1.4 metres. Visitors are flocking to have a look at the unique shoe.
The Fashion Fair 2007 was opened on December 20 and will run till 26 is organised by Viet Nam Exhibition and Fair Centre, Viet Nam Gold Trading Association, Viet Nam Textile and Garment Group (VINATEX) and Viet Nam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso).
Here, clothing, footwear, jewelry, cosmetics, interior decoration furniture, and Christmas gifts among others are being displayed in 350 stalls put up by around 200 participators.
According to Nguyen Thi Tong, General Secretary of Lefaso, winners of the Viet Nam Shoe Design Contest 2007 will be announced during the event.
The Lefaso General Secretary also said that the footwear industry, another important sector for the country is expected earn $4 billion in 2008.
During the event Dang Phuong Dung, Executive Manager of VINATEX said that the group looks forward to the expansion of its supermarkets from the current number of 46 nationwide and in 2008, the textile and garment industry, one of the pillars of the country’s economy plans to earn US $9.5 billion from exports and by 2012, to touch $15 billion.
