New silk worm breeding station was opened on August 22 in Barangay Tabunan’s Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) - Bago Training Center.
Congressman Koichi Tani of Japan and Bago City Mayor Ramon Torres attended the inauguration.
Chief aim of this Negros station will be to produce superior quality of silk that can cater to domestic as well as international markets.
Over 80 percent of the silk produced by OISCA is consumed by the traditional hand woven industry of Panay Island.
Torres praised the efforts of OISCA, whose projects generate employment for the regional people. He further urged the locals to support such projects.
