Observing the plight of polyester manufacturers, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has imposed anti-dumping duty of US $545.22 or about Rs 22,000 per metric ton on Chinese partially-oriented yarn (POY). This has come into effect from August 2.
After conducting an inquiry related to the allegations by the domestic manufacturers regarding excessive imports of low-priced POY from China, the Director General of anti-dumping and allied duties (DGAD) has come to the conclusion that local players are suffering heavy losses due to dumping of POY from China.
The effective implementation of anti-dumping measures by Indian Government is expected to safeguard the interests of domestic manufacturers like RIL and Indo-Rama.
