The sum is not paid in cash, but instead is awarded in the form of substantial support through services such as the procurement of Swiss fabrics or finance, for example for press activities, the production of collections or the organisation of shows.
Entrants cannot apply for the Swiss Textiles Award themselves; they must be nominated by experts. The finalists first need to satisfy rather strict criteria: They must have been on the fashion market for at least four seasons, have already presented their work at official international fashion shows, have their own sales channels and have received commensurate attention from the trade press.
Out of all the nominated designers, six were invited to showcase their collections on the 9th of November 2007 at the Stella Fashion Night before a panel of judges and the audience.
