The dates are 27-29 May, the venue is MIC - MILANO CONVENTION CENTER at fieramilanocity (via Gattamelata 5), and the event is Modaprima n. 62 previewing the ready-made and created-for-large-scale-distribution men’s and women’s clothing and accessory collections for the 2008 spring-summer season and sneak-peeks of the 2007/2008 fall-winter collections.
“We have high expectations for this next edition,” says Agostino Poletto, marketing director of Pitti Immagine, “the show is consolidating its role as the international showcase for unbranded, quality fashions."
"Large-scale distribution is an extremely dynamic market and has enjoyed double-digit growth over the past few years. With Modaprima we want to offer the international market the best of Made in Italy for this specific area: we have done careful scouting and have shopped the most important manufacturing districts in the country, and have selected the best which we will flank with some interesting foreign firms.“
“The exhibitors at Modaprima,” he continues, “represent the medium-high segment of the market, not only in terms of product quality and creativity, but also for the excellent services they offer their clients. And today, in industrial fashions these are the intangibles which generate the competitive advantage.”
Over 150 collections, by about 70 firms, will be featured at the show. The brands specializing in informal wear are growing strongly and more and more of them are choosing this event as the platform for showing their collections.
Alongside of the already well-known names such as Ann Max, Calzificio Franzoni, Creazioni Rosanna, Maglificio Venezia, Mehari, Negozi d’Italia, Nuovi Sarti, Plissé, Rose & Thin, Zanetti Moda, there will be “newcomers” to the event along with comebacks, that include: Banana Moon, Baghera Moda, Clink Jeans, Cizeta, Dernier Cri, Maglificio Dori, Piper Confezioni, Vedeve and Yebysa Ibiza.
The Modaprima concept was developed for the most careful buyers on the international scene: chain, large-scale retailers, wholesalers, importers and trading companies. Of the nearly 2,400 buyers at the last edition (with a 35% increase over the previous one), over half came from 50 foreign countries with Japan in first place followed by Turkey, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Russia, France and Germany.
The promotional strategy that Pitti Immagine is carrying forward with ICE – Istituto per il Commercio con l’Estero [Italian Foreign Trade Commission] focuses on internationalization: at this edition we are expecting important buyer delegations from Canada, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Russia and the United States.
Once again, the Fashion Cube will be an important feature. It is the research area on trends for the coming seasons. Curated by the stylist Sergio Colantuoni and produced with the cooperation of the exhibitors, it will present.
A pop tour of the world of colors, a six-stage journey presenting six interpretations of summer fashions for 2008 underthe banner of lightness and “power to the colors.”
