The Chairman of Just Group, Dr Ian Pollard announced the appointment of two nonexecutive directors to the company’s board and the retirement of his predecessor, Mr Jonathan Pinshaw.
Mr Ian Dahl and Ms Susan Oliver have been appointed as independent non-executive directors. The company has also had discussions with its 21.3% shareholder Metrepark Pty Ltd and has invited Metrepark to appoint 2 nominees to the board.
The appointments will be made and announced in due course. “In March, Mr Pinshaw, announced his desire to step down at a date to be determined and that the company planned to appoint new directors. We are now proceeding with these changes,” said Dr Pollard.
He paid tribute to Jonathan Pinshaw saying that the company had thrived during Mr Pinshaw’s period as Chairman. “Jonathan oversaw the listing of Just Group in 2004 and, under his stewardship, the company has grown strongly and generated excellent returns for its shareholders."
"He leaves a legacy of outstanding leadership, sound governance and the foundations for sustainable, long-term growth,” said Dr Pollard.
Dr Pollard welcomed the new directors saying that their knowledge and experience would enhance the board. Ian Dahl has a lifetime of experience in retailing in Australia and the UK. He was formerly CEO of Sportsgirl Australia, UK Chief Executive of listed jewellery retailer Signet Group PLC and Chairman and Group Chief Executive of Asprey International, the leading UK retailer of luxury goods.
His retail experience also includes roles at House of Fraser PLC, Myer Stores Ltd and Marks & Spencer PLC. He is currently Company Director and co-owner of La Senza Lingerie Australia.
Susan Oliver has extensive experience as a listed company board director. She has been on the board of Transurban Group Ltd for 11 years, where she chairs the Risk Committee and until recently chaired the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, and is also a director of MBF Australia, and Programmed Maintenance Services Ltd.
Susan is an executive director of wwite Pty Ltd a company providing e-business applications for the US market. Previously she was Managing Director of the Australian Commission for the Future and the Centre for International Research in Communication and Information Technology Ltd and was a senior manager for Andersen Consulting (Australia) - now Accenture.
